The 5 Stages Of Gym Withdrawal

Quarantine fever is ramping up and the Gymrats and Meatheads are at a loose end.

What to do with all that energy... Start meditating? Learn a language? Start running, hahahaaa? Type in "burpee" into google? Slowly delete the word "burpee" from your search bar? All great, but none will give you the raw unadulterated feeling of a bar whipping on that 70% AMRAP. Or the sweet sweet burn of the .. elliptical...? I don't know.. trying to be inclusive.

Anyway here are the stages you should be looking out for.

STAGE 1: The Optimist

"Its not that bad, I'm just "de-loading". "They won't close the gyms for too long". "Massive guys on Instagram are bench pressing sofas. You can progressively overload a sofa right"?

STAGE 2: The Shopper

3 days in. "OK, this is less than ideal, I'm definitely getting skinny, let's bite the bullet and kit out the garage. I'm sure there are cheap racks on amazon"

Oh...

STAGE 3: The PANICKED!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Hmm spin lock dumbbells or feed my family... Orrrr water wings on a stick.

STAGE 4: The Body Weight Phase

This stage is similar to denial in many ways: unless by body weight you mean over head pressing your significant other. The problem is you're basically an elite power lifter in your head and callisthenics won't replace years and years of chalk dust inhalation and it definitely won't replace your diminishing one rep max totals. Let's be real, you ain't no gymnast!

STAGE 5: The Resistance band Phase aka Acceptance

... all the resistance bands. They are the only fitness equipment left to buy and at least you can do curls.

In all seriousness, this is a tricky time for many people, financially, health wise and for people in our community without the escape of the gym, struggling to find a space to clean their brains and reset each day.

So at SFitnessPlans we have decided to set up as many FREE initial consultations as possible over the coming weeks to help you guys make the most out of your space, equipment and food.

Get in touch with us at Contact@SFitnessPlans.com to book your call. Or subscribe for a free resistance band complex.

Best wishes - SFitnessPlans.
